My friend is donating her kidney...to her nephew!

WOW! This really touches my heart....not only did I grow up with Trina, her
nephew is the same age as Dylan and Kayla!

(Trina's brother - Troy Whitaker - was neighbors and best friends with Dylans dad)

I know I would give whatever I could to my nephew and do everything possible
to help him live a healthy life....BUT....I also know all of you would make
it possible for me to do so!

Trina has two boys of her own to raise and provide for...so while she is giving her nephew a chance at life, she will be putting major stress on her own life and family.

I will be making a donation from Cousins for a Cure and collecting a basket from Salon Services....I know times are tough for all of us so I don't expect donations but if you have anything to add to the silent auction or have any contacts that might be able to help, please let me know!!

This is a great reminder of how lucky we are...to have each other!
No matter what is said or what happens...when it comes down to it...family really is the most important thing to have, love and appreciate!

So...start this year loving your family 100%...because you never know...you
just might need a kidney some day :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR and please pray for Trina to make a fast recovery and for her
nephew to have a chance to live a long, blessed life!!

**side note** I thought I was a pretty good Aunt for helping Dylan fix his
computer....he would be washing my car for life...if I gave him my kidney :)

Do you know anyone that works at a restaurant...and might donate a gift certificate?

Did you get a gift (or gift card) for Christmas that you "really" wont use and I could add it to a gift basket?

They are having a fundraiser for her ~ everyone is invited!!
If you are able to make it to our fundraiser please join us!

Please join us for an open house fundraiser for Trina (Whitaker) Brazier, a 1993 Tahoma High School graduate. Trina will be donating her kidney to her nephew Kodey Weir (Tahoma Class of 2011) on January 27th.
Kodey has been on dialysis for 2 years and Trina is doing the most amazing thing a person can do, giving Kodey the gift of life.
While Trina is recovering from surgery, approximately 6 weeks, she will have no source of income.

That's why we want to help and host the open house fundraiser.
Appetizers and drinks will be served. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Tickets can be purchased for $20 per person, (kids free) at the door or in advance.

If you can't attend and would like to donate there is an account set up at Key Bank under the "Trina Brazier Kidney Donor Fund". If you or anyone you know has anything to donate to the silent auction/raffle, please let us know immediately, no later than January 9th.

When it rains....it FLOODS!

(from 1/07/09)

SO....just talked to Brian! He is not having a good day! His house was fine at 4:30 this morning when he left....then the neighbor called and his family tracked him down to tell him that he better get home!!

When he got there the neighbor was trying to save anything he could!!

His entire backyard, railroad posts, fence, patio...everything! Is GONE! Yep! The same backyard he spent ALL summer working on!!

He has placed everything he can on top of his pool table as the water was entering his home and garage!! YIKES!! As we were talking the County called to tell him its no longer safe and he needs to evacuate!!

Brian is handling all this very well...I think he is in SHOCK!! He does have flood insurance...but we know how that goes!!

He is worried about the 5th wheel floating away...so he was trying to figure out what to do!!

Don't panic...I'm not doing a clothing/item drive for him...YET :)

Just thought I would share and give you something to file under "could be worse"...I was just complaining about the RAIN...now my complaints don't seem too bad!

-Heather

Backyard...BEFORE!

The "Larson River" was still roaring through his backyard and around his house last night, but this morning he woke up to MUD...wet sticky "bleep.... bleep.... bleeping" MUD!

If anyone needs mud...let me know cause Brian has TONS to get out of his house and yard with no where to put it :)

He is already having "lovely" experiences with insurance agents both flood and homeowners...so I'm pretty sure this "mess" is just beginning!!

I told Brian I would make sure and say - thanks for all the calls and emails offering help and support!

I just keep being reminded of all the thoughtful and caring people I know!!

...stay tuned for possible "clean up crew" info!!

Can you imagine...

UPDATED FAMILY INFO!

(original story)
Four Kent residents were left homeless after a fire early Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started about 1:10 p.m. in the 10200 block of South East 270th Place. A mother and her infant daughter – the only people home at the time – escaped to a neighbor's house.
One of the others left homeless is an employee of Fire District 37, Kent Fire Department spokesman Kyle Ohashi said.
Firefighters found the house half engulfed in flames and contained the fire after roughly a half hour. It took another hour to extinguish the flames, Ohashi said.
The cause is under investigation and investigators did not have an estimate for damages. The Red Cross and Kent Fire Firefighter Foundation is assisting the family.

UPDATED FAMILY INFO!
Alisha (Mom) is size 7 pants, med shirts, 8 ½ shoe
Eric (Husband) wears size med shirts, pants 34 waist 32 length, shoe 9 ½ - 10

Their new home has 3 bedrooms 1 bath.
-If you have a bed available please let me know or send pics.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Hello everyone…

As I was comparing my “nightmare” weather stories and going on about my major lack of “snow patience”…..I was quickly reminded that being snowed in…is far from the end of the world!!

My friend/co-worker stopped by and had a much bigger problem…her house burnt down! She had time to grab her daughter, wrap her in a blanket and head for a door! They made it out (with the cat) just fine…but lost everything!

Luckily her and her husband were closing on their new home and will receive the keys
12/31/08….but….they have nothing to move!

Clothes, shoes, blankets, towels, furniture, toys, pots, pans….just think of everything they NEED!!

I am asking you to help us…help our friend!!

Alisha (Mom) is size 7 pants, med shirts, 8 ½ shoe
Eric (Husband) wears size med shirts
Autumn (daughter) wears 3T and I’m sure she loves toys, books etc.

-I think she is about 2 ½ (I will double check!)

Clean out your closets, garage and toys….ANYTHING you have that can help them start over in their new home will be greatly appreciated!!

If you would like to make a cash donation…small or large…it all adds up – we would like to purchase a few gift cards for them. (Safeway, Home Depot….) If you can spare a latte and would like to donate funds…please let us know!!

I am asking her to stop by the Renton office on Wednesday to pick up her first load…and again next week….so we need your help NOW!!

We can also pick up from our Tacoma showroom…if that works better for you!!

So…instead of calling and complaining about falling (multiple times!) in the snow or whining about traffic….I will keep my mouth shut and appreciate the roof over my head!!

Please look around your house and think of moving into a new home…with nothing…think of all the things they NEED!!

If you have any questions...or ideas...let us know!

Enjoying this “lovely” weather-
Heather & Stacy!

We ROCK because we WALKED!

I want to share what the "Walk for Hope" did for me...

I looked around yesterday and we were a team...we were there for the same cause, for the same reason...and we were there together.

After I named our team "Cousins for a Cure" I was thinking I should have picked a different name because I wanted all of my friends that joined to feel just as important as my family. It was too late...so I just went with it.

As the event got closer the team name started to "fit"... it wasn't that I wanted my team to only be my cousins...it was that I wanted everyone to know we were there because of my COUSIN. Kris isn't the only reason we did this walk but Kris is the reason I started this team.
I wanted to show my support for Kris and help raise money to find a cure!

Personally...I don't want to fight the battle Kris was forced to fight! Maybe I'm selfish...but I've watched Kris take on breast cancer, I've read every email update she sent and I never want to have to know what all those "cancer words" mean! Kris is the reason breast cancer has hit my heart and she is the reason I'm scared shitless it could happen to me or you!

I'm not saying that finding a cure for breast cancer wasn't important until Kris was diagnosed...it just hadn't touched my heart...I just didn't realize how important it was until we needed a cure for Kris!

Anyway back to the walk....
I watched my aunt Debbie announce she was a 16 year survivor.
I watched my friend Celia announce she was a 4 year survivor.
I watched Kris announce that she is currently beating the *itch!!

The kids thought they were at a "free food" carnival...balloon animals, free hotdogs, cheerleaders, funny dressed people...no I'm not talking about the lovely visors!!
As they watched our survivors go up on stage they cheered and waved like they were front row to HSM. (um...High School Musical for those of you who don't know!haha!)

The kids soon realized....they were tricked! This must be some type of punishment...they have to WALK and can't turn around, or wait with Kris!! (I know...because I was kinda thinking the same thing!)

We all made it ...and I have to admit...it wasn't that bad! There wasn't anyone on our team that wasn't smiling and proud at the end.

We raised money as a team, we walked as a team and we made a difference as a team. Yesterday our team was a family...a family of friends, sisters, cousins, aunts, brothers, nieces, nephews, boyfriends, girlfriends, mothers and grandmothers!

I started Cousins for a Cure and together we made it a team!
We came together like a family and finished together....as friends!
I am so glad we did this for Kris, for a cure and for ourselves.

My mind is already mapping out our "team plan" for next year! Don't worry Cara..
it has nothing to do with the coconut bra!!
Cousins for the Cure is a team that started because my cousin made me realize we need a cure!!
Team~I hope yesterday meant something to you...because you made it mean something to me!
Kris~(I promise no more late night phone calls!) Thank you for giving us a reason to come together(..even if you didn't plan it..) you have brought our family back together!
Carlie~You are amazing! Watching you love and care about Kris and watching her eyes light up
talking about you....is...well....almost sickening! HA! I am proud of you cousin!
Debbie~16 years ago I didn't realize we could make a difference ~ thank you for being a survivor so we can make a difference today....together!
Mom~Thank you for being my bestfriend!
Karen~I know I don't even have to say anything...your probably already in tears - and if not...I love you! (now I know you are!) Ha!Ha! Thank you for being my biggest fan!

Please walk with me...

Last weekend I followed the 3-day walkers around Seattle, cheering and thanking them for walking...for all of us! It was amazing to see the dedication of 3000 people...in pink!!

I have decided to walk for the City of Hope for a few reasons...okay!okay! The fact the walk is only 3.1 miles is one reason! (which still might kill me!)

My cousin Kris DiOrio is the main reason...she is currently battling breast cancer. I've decided to setup a TEAM to walk in her honor. We will walk for our cousin...our friend...our Kris!

We will also walk for ourselves...for you...for everyone!

"Every woman in America will be touched by breast cancer in her lifetime. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The other seven will know her. Our goal is to reach the seven in order to help the one."

Please join us...walk with us because YOU CAN!

Cousins For A Cure
It might not be 60 miles or 3 days but it is the same great cause!!
Thank you for supporting City of Hope. Your contribution will go towards the important research, education and treatment programs that are essential in the fight against this disease!

Pass it on...lets build a great team!!!

~Black Friday~

I have a few links to help you prepare
For the craziest shopping day of the year!
So take a minute before you go
Cause there is a few things you need to know!!

First make a list of items to buy
Don't leave without a plan....you just might die!

Second, make arrangements and leave the kids home
People get nasty....its a danger zone!!

(But bring your stroller if your smart
Cause then you have a "shopping cart")

Then go to bed early and get lots of rest
...think you have patience? Well, Fridays the test!

When your alarm goes off, and you think your in hell
Just remember.....its all about the SALE!!

Jump in your car, let the games begin
If you have lots of money...your guaranteed to win!!
Hey! If your broke...don't worry! Grab the credit card
"90 days same as cash".....yeah right! RETARD!

My favorite one is "no interest 'til 2020!"
C'mon folks...they just want your money!!

But how you shop is up to you
I'm just here to share some clues!

Friday night when your back from the stores
You can take off your shoes....and count your sores!!
Your day isn't over! Gotta empty your trunk
At least you paid low prices for your new junk!

From the car to the closet....hope you get it to fit!!
If not....your guilty of buying too much shit!!

You feel satisfied...a new woman NO FEARS!
You conquered the biggest shopping day of the year!!
As for me...I'll stay home and do my shopping online!!
Cause if I shopped on Friday....I would commit a crime!

For each their own....if you like it, that's cool!
But if you ask me....your a daring FOOL!!

Good Luck! Drive Safe! Oh and...Happy Parking!

Wow! It's Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is here
Its time to eat.
Homemade ravioli's
Are the greatest treat!

Dinner time
is some funny shit!
Karen starts to stress
Cause she thinks we won't fit!!

But we figure it out,
Like we do every year!
Enough food, enough room
There is nothing to fear!

So we eat and laugh
And eat some more!
Until we all are ready
To roll out the door!

I am thankful
For so many things,
My family, the memories
And the joy holidays bring!

Happy Thanksgiving!
