UPDATED FAMILY INFO!
(original story)
Four Kent residents were left homeless after a fire early Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started about 1:10 p.m. in the 10200 block of South East 270th Place. A mother and her infant daughter – the only people home at the time – escaped to a neighbor's house.
One of the others left homeless is an employee of Fire District 37, Kent Fire Department spokesman Kyle Ohashi said.
Firefighters found the house half engulfed in flames and contained the fire after roughly a half hour. It took another hour to extinguish the flames, Ohashi said.
The cause is under investigation and investigators did not have an estimate for damages. The Red Cross and Kent Fire Firefighter Foundation is assisting the family.

Hello everyone…
As I was comparing my “nightmare” weather stories and going on about my major lack of “snow patience”…..I was quickly reminded that being snowed in…is far from the end of the world!!
My friend/co-worker stopped by and had a much bigger problem…her house burnt down! She had time to grab her daughter, wrap her in a blanket and head for a door! They made it out (with the cat) just fine…but lost everything!
Luckily her and her husband were closing on their new home and will receive the keys
12/31/08….but….they have nothing to move!
Clothes, shoes, blankets, towels, furniture, toys, pots, pans….just think of everything they NEED!!
I am asking you to help us…help our friend!!
Alisha (Mom) is size 7 pants, med shirts, 8 ½ shoe
Eric (Husband) wears size med shirts
Autumn (daughter) wears 3T and I’m sure she loves toys, books etc.
-I think she is about 2 ½ (I will double check!)
Clean out your closets, garage and toys….ANYTHING you have that can help them start over in their new home will be greatly appreciated!!
If you would like to make a cash donation…small or large…it all adds up – we would like to purchase a few gift cards for them. (Safeway, Home Depot….) If you can spare a latte and would like to donate funds…please let us know!!
I am asking her to stop by the Renton office on Wednesday to pick up her first load…and again next week….so we need your help NOW!!
We can also pick up from our Tacoma showroom…if that works better for you!!
So…instead of calling and complaining about falling (multiple times!) in the snow or whining about traffic….I will keep my mouth shut and appreciate the roof over my head!!
Please look around your house and think of moving into a new home…with nothing…think of all the things they NEED!!
If you have any questions...or ideas...let us know!
Enjoying this “lovely” weather-
Heather & Stacy!
